Pregnancy Pact Movie Review

watched Pregnancy Pact on DVR today - was prob the worst Liftetime movie I ever sat through - I wasn't bothered it was based on an inaccurate rumor started by media, lots of good stories are just stories...I put this in my writing blog because writing fiction is just that. Taking a could have been/ a rumor/ a thread of an idea and building a fantastic story that pulls your readers or watchers into the situation. That makes them feel something. That makes them think about things differently or in a way they may not have before.

This movie didn't do any of that. This movie glossed over things, strung too many story lines together and tried to give a happy feel good outcome. There were no brilliant moments were the viewers thought, "Hmm," or "Wow!"

The boys faced little to no consequences at all (the single mom REALLY didn't go after him for her grandchild's child support? Doubt it!) and the entire thing gloryfied it in a lot of ways IMO...they left out the statistics about preemies, complications, defects....the other side of the coin besides those girls expectations and dreams. We saw mostly the young lady with parental support - you saw very little screen time for the single mom raising a pregnant 15 yr old and their true struggles....this could have been a lot better story and made a much bigger impact than it did. And the end father searching .......horrible thrown in plot with BIG consequences and not any discussion.

Teens carry higher risks in pregnancy because of their age and their bodies not fully matured. We didn't see any of these teens struggle with medical reasons or face very trying circumstances. The one who smoked gave birth to a preemie that was huge and looked 11 months old in the next shot of her. You didn't see that baby struggle for it's life for days or weeks and the mother worry. You heard the mother suffered post partum but you didn't SEE it or experience it and it was only mentioned in a casual/naieve way from the other teens. The one who blood poisoned her body with alchohl faced very little consequence for her actions.

An unrealistic teen pregnancy movie that was all over the place without ever touching on a valid problem for long. The agenda in this movie was to change a conservative's opinion on teaching abstience versus sex education. But it could have been done so much better. And taught so much more. And the happy sunshine ending wasn't that great. There can be some happy at the end but this tried too hard to make everyone happy. Shouldn't some have had bigger struggles before the pot just appears at the end of the rainbow?

In this opinion this was a Lifetime FAIL.
